My journey into metaphysics and psychic development began long before I knew what any of those words meant.  As the first child of immigrant parents, life was challenging from the beginning. English was not my first language, and much of my childhood was spent navigating two worlds. I was the oldest of four children—the only girl with three younger brothers—and it often felt as though everything was somehow my responsibility.

Responsibility became my middle name.

I translated for my parents, helped care for my brothers, worked in my father’s restaurant business, and learned very early how to put the needs of others before my own. We were deprived of many of the experiences other children seemed to enjoy: family vacations, movies, sleepovers, regular meals together, and meaningful conversations around the dinner table.

What I remember most was the yelling. At the time, I didn’t understand it. Years later, I came to realize much of it reflected the culture and hardships my parents themselves had experienced growing up. They did the best they could with the tools they had.

Even as a child, however, I sensed there was more to life than what I could see.

My intuition was remarkably strong. I would know things before they happened. I had vivid dreams that later came true. Information seemed to arrive from somewhere beyond my ordinary awareness, though I had no framework to understand it.

At ten years old, I found both joy and escape in the public library when I stumbled upon the 133 section of the Dewey Decimal System, the metaphysical section. There, I discovered astrology books, metaphysical literature, and copies of Astrology magazines.

My life changed.

I read every day. Every book I could get my hands on became a doorway into a new world. Some of the material I understood immediately; some was far beyond my years. Nevertheless, I kept reading, studying, and learning. At that time, there were no schools, online courses, or local classes that I knew of where one could study astrology, Tarot, pendulum work, psychic development, or mediumship. Books became my teachers.

Around the age of fifteen, I purchased my first Tarot card deck. Armed with nothing more than the little guidebook that came in the box, I began reading for friends and acquaintances. To my surprise, word spread quickly. Before long, people were calling my father’s restaurant asking if I was available to give readings.

Looking back, it’s both amusing and astonishing.

Unfortunately, I had no mentor to guide me. I didn’t understand the mechanics of psychic work, Tarot symbolism, spiritual boundaries, or the different levels of spirit communication. Some of my experiences frightened me. Feeling overwhelmed and uncertain, I eventually burned my Tarot deck after about three years of use.

For many years afterward, I worked primarily astrology and oracle cards.  Then, after much prayer and asking for guidance about whether Tarot belonged in my life again, I was led to the Akashic Tarot. Holy cow, what a powerful deck! To this day, I often pull a single card from that deck to summarize a client’s consultation. The accuracy and insight continue to amaze me.

The truth is, I have enough stories about psychic experiences and intuitive guidance to fill several volumes.

When it came time for college, my greatest dream was to become a doctor. Ironically, when I was in elementary school, my mother would buy me the nurse’s play kit rather than the doctor’s play kit because, in the early 1960s, sexism was simply accepted as reality.

Looking back now, I have to laugh.

But at the time, it hurt.  My heart was crushed when my father declared, “No college for you. You’re a girl. Girls get married and have children.”  The irony wasn’t lost on me. My mother herself was a college graduate with a teaching diploma.

I decided that if I wanted an education, I would have to create the opportunity myself.

I worked my way through school and chose a career in allied health services, earning a degree in Biology with a specialty in Cytotechnology. I loved the detective work involved. Looking through a microscope, identifying subtle cellular changes, and determining what disease process might be present fascinated me.

Even today, I find it remarkable how that same investigative mindset became one of the defining themes of my life.  Whether examining microscopic cells, interpreting an astrology chart, reading Tarot, or connecting with spirit through mediumship, I am still engaged in detective work; gathering clues, recognizing patterns, and uncovering hidden truths.

And yes, all of that is reflected in my birth chart.   As someone who was raised in challenging circumstances, astrology, metaphysics, and psychology helped me make sense of my life and find ways to cope, heal, and grow.

Without going into all the details, that’s a story for another time; one of the most difficult concepts for me to grasp was the idea that my parents, life circumstances, and even my suffering may have been part of a larger soul design. It took years to wrestle with that perspective.

Yet once I came to terms with it, life began to flow more smoothly.  I found greater acceptance, deeper understanding, and a sense of peace that made navigating life’s challenges easier.

Because I’m a scientist at heart and naturally curious, astrology appealed to both my analytical mind and my spiritual nature. It offered a framework that was logical, symbolic, and deeply meaningful.

More than fifty-eight years later, astrology continues to fascinate and inspire me.  I remain amazed by the precision of its cycles, the elegant sequencing of its building blocks, and the way each sign contributes to the greater whole. Every person is born with a unique cosmic fingerprint, containing all twelve zodiac signs expressed in a one-of-a-kind pattern.

While astrology does not remove free will, it can provide valuable insight into the cycles and themes that shape your life’s journey.  For me, astrology has never been merely a subject to study.  It has been a trusted companion, a source of wisdom, and a lifelong adventure of discovery.  Even after nearly six decades of practice, I am still learning, still growing, and still amazed by what the stars can reveal.

One day, when life slows down a little and God provides the right opportunity, I hope to work with a ghostwriter and share my memoirs. Not for fame or recognition, but as a legacy for my two daughters and future generations of my family.  I believe I still have more chapters left to write.
